The Church Community

We are a loving and supportive Christian fellowship, called by God the Father, saved by His Son, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve Him as a community of people. There are 50 members on the roll. In accordance with our Trust Deed only those who have been baptised may be a member. The morning service is the best attended occasion with a congregation averaging 80 people. The first Sunday morning in the month is an All Age Service

Worship is led by our new Pastor Rev David Hughes. Musical Worship is led by our own group, using a mixture of traditional and modern songs. We have also a good 2 manual pipe organ that was overhauled 10 years ago which is used for about one hymn per Sunday. We use Mission Praise hymn books but we hold a CCL licence and most hymns and songs are projected via computer to an overhead screen. PowerPoint is also available for presentations. Communion is celebrated twice a month on the first Sunday evening and third Sunday morning in the month. A crèche and other activities for children and young people are available during the morning service. We meet for lunch after the service on the 1st Sunday in the month.

For the last eight years we have had a visit from a team of students from Capernwray Bible School in February / March. The team, normally 6 young people between 18 & 30, stay for a week and take lessons in the local schools, lead worship and undertake other evangelistic meetings and outreach.

We have at least one “Away Day “ a year normally on a Saturday often at a local farm.

Barn-a-B's A self supporting OFSTED inspected Pre school meets most weekdays. It has a Christian Ethos and the overall Play Leader and Chair of the Management Committee must be Church members.

David's Induction 10th May 2008

Our moderator Trevor led the service and Jez Brown our Regional Minister presided over the formal parts. At the end, the clergy laid hands on and prayed for David and Jenny. The guest preacher was Kumar Rajagopalan, everybody calls him Kumar. He reminded us that we needed to be patient and that we were all called to serve and were invaluable to the work of the Church. We needed to work together to re equip and to train . David was not appointed to do everything, we needed to work in partnership. Individually and collectively we need to respect David to encourage him an pray for him. We also need to listen to and to respect what he says .
